A lot can happen over a Tomato!!

Why your blog is called ‘Tomato Blog’? Are you a tomato dweller? I wonder (blink)
Most of the acquaintances in blogosphere happen as accidents. For the first time I clicked Joshi’s blog only because I was bewildered why the blog is titled ‘Tomato Blog’. Tomatoes are special to me and now you know why I was curious to know about this blog. Truthfully and sincerely I had no intentions of buying tomatoes online, if you think that was the inspiration to check out the ‘Tomato Blog’.
Hearing the word ‘Tomato’ too many times? This post is about tomatoes and only tomatoes. You can stop reading at this point if you are searching for the procedures or tips for the cultivation of tomatoes. Both ‘Tomato Blog’ and I don’t deal with the cultivation of tomatoes but we do cultivate interesting posts.
Like the title says, A Lot can happen over a Tomato, the number of incidents in my life tagged with tomatoes is worth enough to write a book.
Blooper and faux pas make my life very beautiful (?) and really interesting.
During the school culturals, I was dressed up as a flower seller for the folk dance event. With my hair tied tightly to my head’s top right and lots of flowers adoring my beautiful hair, I was practicing the cat walk step for my entry to the stage. When my slot arrived, I graciously lifted the flower basket and started with my signature style cat walk step from the green room to the stage. I could hear my friends and team members cheering for my name outside the stage. But what happened in the next 20 seconds, gave me the best blooper of that year, i.e year 2002. I remember counting my steps but before I counted number 6, I was lying down on the stage with a dramatic skid and fall. What a dramatic entry!! The cheering level dropped down like how the crowd reacts when a catch is dropped in a cricket match. A mammoth thanks to the presence of mind of my school junior as he rolled down the curtains at the 21st second. I always thought people fell down only while stepping on banana peels or water. But I proudly proved that we can skid and fall by stepping on tomatoes too. The girl who dance before me was dressed up as a vegetable dweller and before entering the stage she had removed half a kg of tomatoes from her basket to reduce its weight. Sigh!!She could have kept those tomatoes somewhere else. I was blessed with a 2nd prize which soothed my swollen waist and scarred hands.
Before running a house by myself, the only dish, apart from tea, egg omelets and noodles, I knew to cook was tomato curry. There is a reason why I love tomato curry. When the family’s financial weather was bad, my mother made tomato curry daily. Tomatoes was really cheap then, it costs Rs.24/kg now. She made varieties of dishes with tomatoes such as tomato curry, tomato fry, tomato chutney and tomato sauce too. Till the financial clouds cleared the sky, both the kitchen and plates were filled with tomatoes. The saddest part is though I had heard that if we eat tomatoes, we become like one, I didn’t become like a tomato. I have to find out the person who told me that crap; otherwise I would have not swallowed those many tomatoes in half a year.
In Chennai, we get two breeds of tomatoes – Chennai tomatoes and Bangalore tomatoes. I prefer the former as they are tastier than the latter ones. Bangalore tomatoes look good but they taste bland. One day, to add my misfortunes, there were no Chennai tomatoes in the shops. Though my sweetheart vegetable uncle insisted me on buying the Bangalore tomatoes, I gave him a reluctant face. When the vegetable shopkeeper asked for my mysterious love for the Chennai tomatoes, I gave him a lecture on how bad the Bangalore tomatoes were. I should have realized that there are proud Bangaloreans in Chennai. The old man who stood next to me in the vegetable shop yelled at top of his voice for insulting the Bangalore tomato farmers. He told me that tomatoes are not cultivated in Chennai and both breeds of tomatoes come from Bangalore. I could see people pitying me for hearing such a noisy lecture but I have no choice as it was my wonderful blunder.
Now you know why I clicked the ‘Tomato Blog’ even without a blink of thought. If you are interested in experiment my tomato curry, I am ready to share the exquisite recipe with you.

I hope all of you had a juicy and tasty reading. I am sure after this post you will click on any URL which reads tomatoes.
That was indeed juicy! I mean the firing you received at the vegetable shop! So it is a voodoo of a kind to escape the misfortunes you’ve had on account of tomatoes that you have named your blog after the fruit!
There is a story behind the naming of this blog as “Tomato Blog”. You can read the story here: https://joshimukard.wordpress.com/20090702my-profile/.

Bhavia, this post could only be written by you. I doubt anyone else can write like this. With so much fun, such vibrance and of course, so many tomatoes. 😛
Even I have often wondered about Joshi’s blog. Subconsciously, I have concluded that he prefers tomatoes in his diet/buys them for his partner’s good skin/some such theory. Maybe he wants a good tomato shower in Spain? Anyhow, Bhavia, I can never tire of reading about your eventful life events. Accident prone though you may be, your writing is a bundle of fun.
Interesting guest post idea, Joshi. 🙂
